L’articolo di questo mese tratterà un argomento molto semplice ma al tempo stesso di grande attualità: gli occhiali come strumento per vedere il mondo e se stessi. Ho rivolto alcune domande alla Dott.ssa Claudia Colandrea e al Dottor Davide Cazzola, laureati in ottica ed optometria e titolari del negozio WEDO a Torino.
“Grazie ad uno studio effettuato, l’ISTAT rivela che 4 persone su 10 portano le lenti o gli occhiali e che nel 2050 potrebbe essere affetta da miopia metà della popolazione mondiale (quasi 5 miliardi di persone). Da qui a 10 anni, il numero di pazienti che non vede bene da lontano potrebbe sfiorare i 2,5 miliardi’. Insomma, si tratta di dati ingenti. Ma cosa vuol dire portare gli occhiali per una persona?”
Gli occhiali non sono solo un semplice strumento che ci permette di vedere meglio, ma anche un modo per presentarci al mondo: essendo posti sul viso, sono tra le prime cose che gli altri notano della nostra persona. Sembra una banalità, ma la semplice forma o il colore dell’occhiale modifica fortemente il nostro viso e comunica anche un messaggio diverso: un occhiale più estroso e colorato denota una personalità diversa rispetto a coloro che portano una montatura sottile e metallica.
“Questo è molto interessante. Quindi secondo voi quali sono i cambiamenti che una variazione di occhiale può portare in una persona?”
I cambiamenti, in positivo, sono di due tipi: uno sicuramente strutturale e uno più psicologico. Spesso, chi porta gli occhiali da tanto tempo non si rende conto del peggioramento visivo, perché si abitua a vedere in un determinato modo e spesso non è consapevole della graduale perdita della vista. Quindi il primo cambiamento è strutturale: la persona vede effettivamente meglio le espressioni delle persone, i colori, e tutto è più definito. Questo porta al secondo cambiamento, ovvero il miglioramento della qualità della vita. Ad esempio, una nostra cara cliente stava affrontando un momento particolare, ed era venuta da noi per fare un controllo visivo sapendo che doveva cambiare gli occhiali, così abbiamo controllato la gradazione delle lenti. Era consapevole di non vederci benissimo con quegli occhiali, ma in quel momento non era così fondamentale per lei, si è trovata nel nostro negozio quasi per caso. Dopo una settimana che aveva cambiato le lenti e gli occhiali ci ha chiamato per dirci che stava molto meglio e che era molto contenta per l’acquisto fatto.
“Quindi il cambiamento degli occhiali ha portato ad un miglioramento. Effettivamente gli occhiali riflettono il tipo di personalità e mostrano alcuni lati del nostro carattere. Per questo motivo immagino sia molto difficile trovarsi a doverli indossare dopo tanti anni di visione nitida naturale.”
Assolutamente sì. Ci sono persone di mezza età che associano il mettere l’occhiale ad un sintomo di invecchiamento e lo rifiutano, soprattutto le donne di 45-50 anni. A coloro che presentano queste difficoltà proponiamo in primis le lenti a contatto e solo successivamente l’occhiale.
